Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Saturday announced that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has sanctioned additional assistance of Rs. 70 crore to support the affected people as a result of curfew imposed in the light of growing Coronavirus menance. Notably, earlier the state government had sanctioned Rs 22 crore for relief measures.After a review meeting with senior district officials here,  the Minister said that the state government would not allow any shortage of funds to protect its people from this disease. Earlier,  Manpreet Singh Badal directed the officials that all essential commodities should be delivered to the people at fixed prices and overcharging would not be tolerated at any cost. After the directions, district administration has issued the rate list of all essential commodities, which are being provided to the people at their door step during the curfew.Mr. Badal also initiated distribution of packets of dry rations to daily wagers and unorganised labourers in the district to help them through the contingency situation triggered by the curfew.Urging the people to stay at home, Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal said that Punjab Government has made all arrangements to ensure home delivery of essential items and services. While sending the necessary items laden vehicles to the city this morning, Senior Congress leader Jai Jeet Singh Johal asked the marketing committee officials to ensure that the rate list on every vehicle and it would be checked during the day.
