Eight more positive cases of Covid-19 surfaced on Saturday taking the number of cases to 20 in Kashmir Valley. So for, 28 persons have been tested positive for the COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, 22 of them are in Kashmir region—3 in the winter capital Jammu and 5 in Rajouri district. Over 6,000 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance. One patient infected with Covid-19 has already a couple of days ago.Hospital Sources told Kashmir News Trust that all the Covid-19 patients, who have been tested positive are stable and doing well. A patient from Khanyar Srinagar is almost recovered from the disease.The fresh 8 cases reported on Saturday are all from Kashmir. These including a couple from Ahmadnagar area, in Srinagar outskirts, a religious preacher from Jawahar Nagar, another religious preacher from Chadoora  and 4 persons from Hajin Bandipora, who had come in contact with the deceased Covid-19 patient. The Jawahar Nagar patient has a travel history and has recently returned from Indonesia. The couple from Ahmadnagar has also travel history who recently returned from Maharashtra, that is one of the worst hit by Covid-19 cases.All these patients are undergoing treatment at Chest Disease hospital Srinagar.The confirmed Covid-19 cases in Kashmir have surfaced from Khanyar (1), Natipora (3), Bandipora (9), Bemina (2) and Chatabal (2), Jawahar Nagar (1), Chadoora (1)  and Ahmadnagar (2).

An official said that over 4,000 persons have been kept under home quarantine including facilities operated by Government while as 243 are in hospital quarantine.Persons who are under home surveillance stand at 1908 while as 596 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.The official added that 563 smples have been sent for testing of which 493 tested as negative while report for rest is awaited.Meanwhile, in case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24x7 at their door steps by calling on toll free No. 108. Pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialing toll free No. 102.Furthermore a 24x7 toll free national helpline number 1075 has been activated for support, guidance, and response to health related queries on novel coronavirus disease.The government has advised the General public that in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly. “People should call on Covid-19 helpline No.s and inform about their health condition along with any recent travel or contact history so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right health facility, if needed. This will also help to prevent possible spread of COVID-19,” the advisory reads.The government has also urged public to implement Social Distancing measures as it is the key to stop and prevent the spread of Covid-19 from those who are infected to those who are not infected. The intervention includes remaining out of crowded settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others.Further, the Government has appealed people to not panic and take protective measures to protect yourself and your loved ones.
