Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today visited various Brick kilns in Budgam and distributed ration among the labourers who have arrived from various states of the country to earn their livelihood.The DC visited brick kilns at Waterwani, Nasrullahpora, Gariend and Chandpora and sensitized the labourers on measures they need to take to contain the spread of coronavirus. He urged them to maintain proper hygiene at their temporary shelters and ensure proper cleanliness and social distance during their work and stay.He said that as the work season has started, the non local labourers have arrived in Budgam after proper screening and were found healthy and with no symptoms of infection.The DC further directed the concerned that the labourers arriving to work at the Brick kilns must be allowed to stay and work in the district only after proper screening.The DC asked the labourers to contact district administration or him on his phone number directly for any kind of assistance.He said steps are afoot to ensure that not only residents but labourers from other states have all the basic facilities including essential supplies, ration and ata available during the lockdown.Stressing on foolproof arrangements to combat covid-19, DC said that both men and machinery have been put on job to avert any incidence of Covid-19 in the district.
