In a major reprieve to the residents of Jalandhar the officers of district administration today donned a new role by ensuring supply of 93000 litres of milk, medicines and 1100 quintals of fruits and vegetables to the residents.On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma the officers of district swung into action with the dawn of the day. The Milkfed officers led by General Manager supplied 93,000 litres of Milk. The milk was distributed through the authorised dealers of Verka in every locality. Pertinently Verka supplies around 1,07,000 litres of milk in the districts and on Tuesday it had supplied 90,000 litres whereas on Wednesday it Was 93,000 litres on Wednesday.Similarly, teams led by Drug Control Officer Ms Kamal Kamboj supplied medicines of one month related to Blood Pressure, Diabetes and one month epilepsy medicine at village Haripur. At Phagwara gate Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr Bimal Kant himself handed over medicine to a lady after she made a call for help. In the same manner 1400 quintals of fruits and vegetables were also supplied in the city by staff of District Mandi officer. On Tuesday around 1100 quintals of fruits and veggies were supplied in District. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma said that efforts would be made to ensure that people do not face any sort of problem. He said that the mechanism was being evolved to ensure that these services were readily provided. Mr Sharma said that people should not get panic and assured them that administration was with them in this hour of crisis.
