In its commitment to fulfil basic requirements of people at their doorsteps during ongoing curfew, the district administration has roped in shopkeepers provide grocery, vegetables and medicines to people through ‘Home Delivery’.Chairing a meeting with stockists and retailers here at the District Administrative Complex, the Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the administration has divided the entire Jalandhar city in various sectors and every sector has been allotted to shopkeepers for supplying grocery goods, vegetables and milk besides medicines to them. They said that these shopkeepers would be given passes by the administration and their contact numbers would be made public so that the needy people could contact them and order the things required by them. Both the officers said that these vends would operate in their respective areas so that if need arises they could supply the grocery goods at their doorsteps.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that this would help in streamlining the need of people besides ensuring that people do not come out of houses so that spread of Corona virus was checked in district. They said that in any situation people would not be allowed to move out in curfew but they could order their needs on these numbers. Both the officers said that this would help in checking gathering of people to contain spread of Corona virus one one hand and ensure that people get goods at their doorsteps on the other. They further said that any fruit or vegetable vendor and milk vendor or sanitation worker would not be stopped at any cost. The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner further said that for supply of medicines also sectors would be allotted to different shopkeepers  and their numbers would be made public so that if need arises any person could call them. They said that shopkeepers would not be allowed to open shops and strict action would be taken if anyone of them open the shops. However, both the officers said that shopkeepers would be free to ensure home delivery of goods to people.On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr Vishesh Sarangal, Deputy Commissioners of Police Mr Gurmeet Singh and Mr Arun Saini, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police Ms D Sudharvizhi and Mr PS Bhandall, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Rahul Sindhu, Assistant Commissioner Mr Varjeet Walia and others were also present.
