The Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday flagged off a van to create the awareness of Coronavirus and preventive measures among the people.Mr Sharma accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mr Vishesh Sarangal and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr Jasbir Singh, said that the van will cover the villages and urban areas of the district to sensitize the people about the disease.He asked the residents of the district to not get swayed by the rumours pertaining to Coronavirus as the Health department was fully geared up to tackle this disease and so far no case of the flu has been detected in the district. He told that the magnitude of Coronavirus in countries like China, South Koria, Iran, Italy and other countries was too much. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Coronavirus basically affects the respiratory system of a human being after the virus enters through the mouth, nose or even eyes. He said that the symptoms of the disease were like any other ordinary flu so it was quite difficult to differentiate it from the other ones. However, Mr Sharma said that there was no need to get panic from the disease and simple precautions could help in avoiding it. He added that the simple and effective way to keep this Coronavirus at bay was to wash the hands' number of times with soap and sanitizer.The Deputy Commissioner said that apart from it keeping a distance of at least one metre from people, avoiding visit in congested areas and others were also other means to keep the flu away.On the occasion, DCP Mr Arun Saini, SDM Dr Jai Inder Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla, DFSC Mr Narinder Singh, Assistant Nodal Officer SVEEP Mr Surjeet Lal, Managing Director of the St. Soldier Group Mr Manhar Arora and others were present.
