As a precautionary measure to avert any kind of eventuality with regard to the COVID-19 outbreak, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today launched a massive cleanliness drive during which several places of vital public importance were sanitized.The drive will continue up to March 31, during which all places in rural as well as in urban places will be sanitized by Rural Development Department and Municipality respectively.Later, the DC chaired a meeting with the Revenue and other concerned officers to review the measures taken to contain the spread of virus.On the occasion, DC directed the Revenue officers including SDMs, Tehsildars and other concerned officers to play a proactive role by monitoring the sanitation drives and identify all such persons having Coronavirus like symptoms in their respective jurisdictions.He directed the concerned to ensure directions for closure of all the educational institutions including private tuition centres and restrictions on large gathering are being followed in the district.Moreover, he urged the people not to heed the rumours and said that strict action shall be taken all such miscreants.Meanwhile, DC designated medical, paramedical functionaries as ‘Surveillance Personnel’ enabling them to discharge their duties to detect, examine and quarantine any Corona infected person.He appealed all such persons having such symptoms to inform the nearest control room or the concerned surveillance team and said that concealment of such information and the subsequent violation of the provisions shall invite the prosecution under the relevant provisions.
