The Deputy commissioner Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal (Chairman District Environment Committee- DEC) today convened a meeting of members of DEC to discuss the actions taken by different departments for implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP).The meeting was attended by the members of the committee including ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACD Ganderbal, General Manager, DIC Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, DFO(T) Ganderbal, Executive officer, MC Ganderbal, DPO Ganderbal, District Geology & Mining Officer Ganderbal, District Officer Pollution Control board Ganderbal and other concerned.Threadbare discussion was held on action plans taken up by the executing agency for implementation of District Environment Plan for environmental conservation and improving parameters in the district.The meeting discussed the action areas taken up by different departments of district Ganderbal including sensitization of Panchayats regarding efficient use of ground water, Propagation of efficient use of ground water through mass and electronic media, Conduct of awareness programmes in Panchayats for efficient use of Ground Water, Operationalization of Solid Waste Management project at Kohistan Colony Safapora Lar and Installation of twin color community bins in different wards and at important locations.The DC said that the action plan aims at improving overall parameters of environment in the district including solid waste management, bio medical waste management, management of construction and demolition waste, cleaning of polluted river stretches, industrial pollution control, utilization of treated sewage, conservation of water bodies, e-waste management, measures to curb use of plastic and polythene, community participation in water and environmental conservation.
