The Punjab Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot on Friday directed the departments of the state government, which are dealing with the Post Matric Scholarship scheme, to take action immediately to get released the degrees and certificates, which are being withheld by the some private institutes/colleges, of the Scheduled Caste students. He also directed the officials of the departments to submit the report about such institutions within 5 days.Mr. Dharmsot said that student organizations of the state have brought this matter to the notice of the department that some educational institutes have withheld the certificates and degrees of the SC/ST students and the students are facing difficulty in getting jobs and perusing further studies.The Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities said that Higher Education, Technical Education, School Education, Medical education and Research and Animal husbandry and fisheries departments and DPI Colleges have been asked to take action immediately to get released the certificates and degrees of the SC/ST students from the private educational institutions / colleges.Central Government has not released the funds for Post Matric Scholarship scheme and whenever the money is released, the state government will immediately release it to the respective educational institutes, Mr. Dharmsot added.
