A two weeks workshop on Constructivist Approach and Its Application to Instructional Design Preparation under Centre of learning and pedagogic studies, School of Education , Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) Scheme , MHRD is being Inagurated at Department of Education of the Guru Nanak Dev University with a view to provide a platform where teachers can provide an educational environment and to assist student’s harmonious adaptations to the principles of constructivist approach. As many as 23 participants and their administrators from various Universities, colleges and schools are participating.Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor while delivering the inaugural address stressed the need of customizing the learning environment according to the needs, capabilities and potential of the learners. He also highlighted the role of a teacher in the life of the learners, wherein he stressed that good teachers leave an indelible mark on the minds of the learners. He said that the participants motivated them to be effective and inspiring teachers as the onus of building generations lies on the shoulders of the teachers.

Prof. Amit Kauts, Project Coordinator, School of Education while welcoming the guests and participants highlighted the relevance of constructivist approach for teachers and teacher educators so that learning outcomes are achieved successfully. He emphasized that teachers should create environment where learners are autonomous, inquisitive thinkers who question, investigate and reason.Dr. Deepa Sikand Kauts, Organizing Secretary, oriented the teachers/teacher educators towards the new trend adopted in teaching learning process and how this workshop will provide hands on training to the teachers in the development of Instructional Design of the Constructivist Approach. She stressed that constructivist classrooms are structured so that learners are immersed in experience within which they can engage in meaning making inquiry and reflection. She said that the learning relationship in a constructivist classroom should be mutually beneficial to both the students and teachers to promote communication and better flexibility.
