Deputy Commissioner, O P Bhagat, who is also the designated Principal Census Officer, today chaired a meeting to review the preparatory work for conducting the next Population Census 2021 in Kathua district, a territory wide exercise.ADCs of Kathua, Billawar and Basohli, SDMs of Bani and Hiranagar, Tehsildars, DS&EO, Ranjeet Thakur, CEO, MC Kathua and Executive Officers of Municipal Committees of Kathua District attended the meeting.The Principal Census Officer directed the Charge Officers (Tehsildar for Rural area & EO in Urban area) to submit the list of Enumerators and Supervisors at the earliest so that schedule training program can commence in the month of April. Besides, he also directed them to establish Census Cell immediately and submit the details to his office to formulate a checklist of activities, role and responsibilities of officers associated with the activity and completion time for systematic planning and effective monitoring of the census operation.Nodal Officer for Kathua, Jatinder Kumar also briefed about Census activities and informed that the House Listing and Household Census will be held between June 1 to July 15. The Population enumeration will be held in September 2020 in inaccessible (snow bound) areas and in February 2021 in accessible areas as per the schedule of the Registrar General. The data for the National Population Register (NPR) will also be updated along with House listing and Household Census.
