Continuing its spree against drug peddlers in the region, the Moga police led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Moga Harmanbir Singh Gill on Sunday, have recovered 2.05 Kilogram Heroin concealed in bottles from the wheat fields at Muhar Sona village in Fazilka district near border outpost at the Indo-Pakistan border. The operation was carried out jointly by district police and Border Security Forces (BSF).SSP Harmanbir Singh, while addressing a press conference said that following a tip-off a team under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravinder Singh led by Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) in-charge Moga Tarlochan Singh accompanied by BSF troops carried a search operation at wheat fields and found heroin concealed in two Soft Drink bottles near BOP Mohar Sona gate. SSP Harmanbir was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Harinderpal Singh.SSP Harmanbir said that initial reports suggest that the heroin was concealed here by Pakistan smugglers to smuggle into India.He said that the police are investigating the case from various angles and are searching the accused smugglers from the Indian side, while the farmer from whose field drug was recovered will be questioned.Meanwhile, the case was registered under sections 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act against unidentified smugglers at Sadar Police Station Moga.
