District ADMINSTRATION Samba in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Samba today celebrated International Women Day under Centrally Sponsored Scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao for the empowerment and upliftment of women at Ghagwal.The programme was presided over by the District Development Commissioner, Samba Rohit Khajuria. Chief Planning Officer, Samba Sukhleen Kour, Block Development Committee Chairman, Ghagwal Vijay Tagotra, Sub District Magistrate, Ghagwal Ramkesh Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Samba Tilak Raj Sharma, Karuna Nidhi, Dr. Aadil Rashid, Agriculture Extension Officer Ghagwal R.C. Pandoh, Agriculture Extension Officer Rehyian Gurdeep Singh, Agriculture Extension Officer Samba Surinder Mishra, Agriculture Extension Officer Rajpura R.P.Singh, Sarpanches, Panches and Progressive Women farmers of district samba.While addressing the gathering, the District Development Commissioner, Samba emphasized the need for more involvement of women in the farming for their empowerment and upliftment. DDC Samba also distributed awards among the progressive women farmers who did excellent and outstanding works in the field of agriculture sector along with cash rewards of Rs 2100/- per awardee for 25 progressive farming women and also distributed 20 women Gender Friendly Tool Kits to boost the organic farming.In the programme, Chief Planning Officer, Samba, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Samba, Subject Matter Specialists, Samba, Block Development Committee Chairman, Agriculture Extension Officer’s of various Zones also spoke on the empowerment and upliftment of women and explained various schemes implemented by the department of agriculture for the welfare of farming community.
