District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan today presided over one-day awareness cum demonstration programme on “Plastic Free Campaign (Swachhata Hi Seva)” here at conference hall.Senior Superintendent of Police, Haseeb Ur Rehman; Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Kasturi Lal; Assistant Commissioner (R), Dhrinder Sharma; Dy. SP, Ajay Anand; DPO, Sunil Bhutyal; Chief Education Officer, Vinod Koul; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Janak Raj, besides Sub Divisional Magistrates, BDOs, Tehsildar, Municipal officials, CAO, CDPOs, PRIs and all district and sectoral officer were present.The programme was organized by the District Panchayat Officer (DPO) and attended by officers, officials, volunteers and students were also felicitated for their contribution in Plastic Free Campaign.During the meeting, DDC reviewed progress under Plastic Waste Free Campaign and said that the main aim of the campaign is to avoid use of polythene carry bags and single use plastic.DDC stressed on the concerned officers to create mass awareness among the public by organizing rallies, painting and quiz competitions, sanitation drives in schools and colleges as part of the Campaign.Meanwhile, officers and civil society members shared their views on the challenges and potential solutions of plastic waste.Through a Power Point presentation, the DPO apprised the meeting about action taken by the different departments, especially enforcement agencies to stop use of banned disposable plastic in the district.
