District Development Commissioner (DDC), Nazim Zai Khan today declared open Inter Block, District Level, girls and boys,Chess and Carrom competition here at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS).The sports event is being organized by the District Youth Services and Sports Department in collaboration with Education department.
Principal GMHSS, Narinder Singh Jamwal; District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Dhramveer Singh; officials of Department of Education, Youth Services and Sports besides scores of children from various educational institutions of the district participated in the inaugural function .The DDC hailed the initiative of the department saying that such events should be organized regularly for promotion of sports in the district. He said that there is no dearth of talent in the district.The district level competition witnessed the participation of winners of block level competition.The winner students will get access to division level competition and later the winning team at the division level will represent the district at state-level competition.In Carrom competition, Adil Ayub Hajam of Khari block won the final by beating Tariq Ahmad Malik of Dhram block in single Boys category, while Adil Hussain and Shajahan Ahmed of Dhram block were declared winner in Boys double category.Meanwhile, Amrik Singh of Ramban clinched the title by beating Sourab Singh of Batote block in boys Chess competition.
