Education and Public Works Minister Punjab Vijay Inder Singla, on Saturday, laid the foundation stone of the boys hostel building at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital Sangrur. After the foundation stone laying ceremony, the minister informed that the hostel building would cost around 4.82 crore Rupees and will be accommodating 84 students after the completion. He added that the four-storey building will be constructed on the area of 12,330 square feet.Vijay Inder Singla said that the Punjab Government will ensure state of the art care for the cancer patients at the hospital by providing hi-tech healthcare facilities. He added that the unit of Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai was opened at Sangrur to pave the way for affordable cancer care to the Rural areas He said that the centre has all the required facilities to treat cancer patients like Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology. He informed that the centre also comes under the Mukh Mantri Punjab Cancer Rahat Kosh Scheme (MMPCRKS) to support cancer patients monetarily and his now imparting cancer treatment to patients of adjoining states as well !The cabinet minister said that to provide hassle free health facilities at the centre, he would personally review the facilities at the centre with the support of health Minister Mr Balbir Singh Sidhu. He added that the Punjab Government will also extend every possible support to the centre which would result into better cancer care.On this occasion, Tata Memorial Centre Dr. Ambumani Chief Engineer (PWD) VS Dhindsa among several other dignitaries were also present.
