PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a Seminar on “Industrial Waste and Wastewater Management” on 28th February 2020, Ludhiana with the objective  to bring all Stakeholders together at one platform to deliberate on the issues and challenges being faced for Management, reusing and recycling of Waste & Wastewater Management in Ludhiana.Mr. Vikram Singh Mehta, Chairman, Water & Solid Waste Committee, PHD Chamber said Gol, State Governments and various institutions in the country, including the Planning Commission and the National Institute of Urban Affairs, have brought the requisite knowledge and advocacy to deal with this subject. Currently, waste management one of the pressing issues that Gol is dealing with under its flagship programmes such as the Smart City Mission and the Swachh Bharat Mission. The waste management issue has been taken up through serious involvement of various ministries and institutions.Mr. RS Sachdeva, Mentor, Punjab State Chapter,PHD Chamber said State and Central Governments  have spent Rs. 550 crores in cleaning up operations, but the level of pollution continues to climb further. There is need to ensure that the treatment plants set up by industrial units are operational and untreated waste is not dumped into Buddha Nallah.Chief Guest, Prof. Satwinder Singh Marwaha, Chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board said that over a period of time our focus on environment protection has declined and shift has been towards increase in Agriculture Production & Food Security. 

Technological development is the key for industrial Growth and all stakeholders need to work together for environmental protection for giving better future to our younger generation.Er. Sandeep Bahl, Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board, in his address said PPCB has requested industrialists to remove any shortcomings and refurbish their ETPs with proper markings and as per proper design, so that the prescribed standards of treatment could be achieved, also to keep proper records of the operation of their captive treatment plants and monitor the same for proper compliance.Eminent speakers, Mr. Manojj K. Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, National Federation of Farmer’s Procurement Processing & Retailing Co-operatives of India Ltd; Ms. Reena Chadha, AGM, Eco Laboratories and Consultants Pvt. Ltd.; Mr.Ashok Kumar, AGM – Sustainability, URS Verification;Mr. Jagjit Singh Kochar, MD, KBK Environ Infrastructure Ltd.;Mr. Abhinav Sharma, MD, Dross Management System & Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd; Ms. Shalini Goyal Bhalla, Founder, Women For India addressed the participants on Industrial Wastewater Problem in Ludhiana and Proposed solutions towards Improvement of current situation by conducting Water-Wastewater Audit and cleaning of Buddha Nallah by Korean Nano Bubble Innovative Technology for Waste water treatment during the technical session.Mr. Gurmeet Singh Kular, Convener-Ludhiana Zone, Punjab State Chapter proposed Vote of thanks on the occasion. He urged industrialists in Ludhiana to pay more attention towards the treatment of their waste water and other pollution-related matters.The programme was well attended by over 100 industries in and around Ludhiana.
