"The District Administration would proceed strictly in accordance with the provisions enshrined in the law against PGs in violation of the norms prescribed by the State Government." These views were expressed here today at the District Administrative Complex by the ADC Mrs. Aashika Jain, who currently holds the charge of DC S. A. S. Nagar, while presiding over a high-level meeting to crack down on illegally operational PGs. The DC directed EO, GMADA, MCs and the BDPOs to conduct checks on the PGs and to allow a one-time opportunity of 15 days time to the PG owners to register themselves as per their respective policies failing which the strict action would be taken against them. No illegally functioning PGs would be tolerated as it poses a safety hazard to the residents, added Mrs. Aashika Jain. The DC also directed all concerned to submit weekly Action Taken Reports (ATR).Emphasizing that the availability of the Fire Fighting equipment inside all the PGs is a must, the DC said that the EOs must ensure that as per the Rental Housing Accommodation Policy, the owner must reside within the premises.A 24x7 centralized District helpline number (0172-2219505) has also been announced where residents can register complaints apart from the concerned municipal/development authority.
