Handloom, Handicraft departments organizes awareness camps at Shopian, Anantnag, Kupwara

Handloom Development Department, Shopian organised a day long awareness camp at Village Daramdoora Shopian to sensitize weavers and artisans about the welfare package and government sponsored schemes for the Handloom Weavers.The Assistant Director Handicrafts, representative of J&K Bank, trainees of various weaving training centres, established by Handloom Department and other concerned attended the camp.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Planning Officer, Shopian, highlighted various artisan welfare schemes like PM Weavers Mudra, Micro Credit Plan Scheme, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and scholarship scheme for for the children of weavers and artisans.

AT ANANTNAG, a similar camp was organized in Achabal, here today in which a large number of artisans, weavers, trainees and other stake holders were present.Addressing the gathering, the Assistant Director Handlooms & Handicrafts, Anantnag, Javid Naseem Masoodi said that aim of organising the camp is to aware the artisans and weavers about various welfare and job oriented schemes under which the department is providing training in cutting tailoring, sozni & kanni shawal weaving.He further stated that presently 100 candidates are being imparted training in Handloom weaving, cutting tailoring & kani shawal at 08 training centres in the district while 3000 artisans are registered with handloom department and 65 cases under Mudra have been provided financial assistance of Rs.1.00 lac per head.Besides 30 societies are registered in the district for which the department provides marketing facilities by organizing handloom exhibitions.

The representatives of Industries Department and various banks informed artisans about various government sponsored schemes including PMEGP under which 35% subsidy is provided for establishing  MSE units.AT KUPWARA, the Department of Handicrafts, organized the day long interaction cum awareness camp under the chairmanship of Assistant Director Handicrafts, Mudasir Ahmad at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kralpora.The District Handicrafts Training Officer, Mohammad Afzal, representatives of various Banks, trainees and other concerned attended the camp.On the occasion, it was informed that 11 training centres are functioning in Handicrafts block Trehgam, out of which 9 centres are of Handicrafts Department while two centres have been sponsored by NITI AYOG.Meanwhile, 200 Registration cards were distributed among the artisan trainees during the camp.
