The Jammu and Kashmir police chief, Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday said that government is well aware about the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPN) by the people in Jammu  and Kashmir.According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Director General of Police (DGP) while addressing a presser in Srinagar’s PCR when asked about the use  of VPNs said that at present the priority of police is to take action against those who are misusing the VPNs.He added that Pakistan is leaving no stone un-turned to disturb peace  in Jammu and Kashmir through social media and action is being taken against those who are misusing the VPNs.Singh further said that the government is aware that people are  taking advantage of the loopholes and making use of that. “We know it is being used despite instructions. But there is a line between use and misuse,’’ he said.  “Government is  keeping surveillance on the misuse of the internet.”The DGP further stated that police’s top priority is to maintain law and order, adding that when they found the situation has  improved on the ground, the relaxation was given to the people and mobile phones and other services were restored in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that if the situation improves,  further relaxation of the internet can be made.Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar, who was accompanying the DGP during the presser, told media  persons that the Home department had issued an order, banning social media in Jammu and Kashmir on January 14, 2020.  “Some people are using social media and instigating  violence.
