Cabinet Minister Punjab OP Soni today directed the officers of district administration to accord top priority to impart quality healthcare, education, urban improvement, environment and other citizen centric services to people. Chairing a meeting of district Grievances committee here today, the Minister said that the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was committed for overall well being of the state. He said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government Punjab has today emerged as a front runner state in the country. Mr Soni said that the officers were duty-bound to implement the policies of the state government in the right earnest adding that all the funds allocated during the current fiscal should be completed by its end. Meanwhile, dwelling on agenda the Minister constituted a committee comprising Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr Vishesh Sarangal and Mr Jasbir Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Chawla and SE PWD to explore the feasibility of operationalising the Community Health Centre Khurla Kingra at the earliest. He also directed the National Highways Authority of India to ensure proper signage on the National Highways crossing from city. Mr Soni also asked the officers to expedite the work on repair/ construction of National Highway Shahkot to Moga, Mehatpur to Parjian and service lane from Mehatpur to Shahkot besides construction of ROB at Shahkot.The Minister also asked the Municipal Corporation to start construction work on Nangal Shama-Chugitti road at a cost of around Rs 80 lakh. On issue of construction of Track for driving license at Shahkot it was decided to take this issue with the state government. Mr Soni also asked the Municipal Corporation and Industries Department to resolve the issue of disposal of waste water in the Focal Point locality. 

The Minister also said that in order to ensure free dialysis for patients at local Civil Hospital he would personally ensure that new machines were installed for dialysis. Irked over the lack lustre performance of the National Highways Authority of India Mr Soni said that he would personally take up this matter with the Union Minister Mr Nitin Gadkari. He also asked the Chief Administrator Jalandhar Development Authority to present a detailed report for construction of parking at land of Old Deputy Commissioner office. The Minister also asked the Police and Civil administration to ensure effective implementation of DAPO and Buddy program in the district for weaning our menace of drugs in District. He also asked the administration to make sure that the youth of district were imparted quality skill education. Mr Soni also asked the officers to ensure optimum utilisation of the MGNREGA scheme for effective development of villages in district. The Minister also asked the officers to  expedite the development works under Urban Improvement Program and Smart Village campaign to ensure holistic development of urban and rural areas. He also asked the officers to ensure proper implementation of Smart Ration Card scheme to make sure that people were benefitted from it. Mr Soni also said that he would personally raise the issue of post matric scholarship scheme before the Chief Minister in today’s Cabinet.On the occasion MLAs Mr Pargat Singh, Mr Sushil Kumar Rinku, Mr Rajinder Beri, Chaudhary Surinder Singh and Mr Hardev Singh Laddi, Mayor Mr Jagdish Raj Raja, Chairman Jalandhar Improvement Trust Mr Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr Diperva Lakra, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr Vishesh Sarangal and Mr Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Amit Kumar, Mr Rahul Sindhu, Dr Sanjiv Kumar and Dr Jai Inder Singh, Secretary RTA Dr Nayan Jassal.
