Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza Tuesday convened a meeting regarding the functioning of Self Help Group (SHG) of Engineers Scheme.The Meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Development, Executive Engineers of various departments and officers from Department of Employment were present on the occasion.The meeting was informed that 23 SHGs are registered in the district under Self Help Group of Engineers Scheme, which is aimed at providing livelihood in the shape of work contracts to the engineers as an alternative to government jobs.Officers informed that 148 works have been allotted to 92 Engineers of 23 SHGs amounting to Rs 11.27 crores by line departments including R&B, PDD, PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control during the current fiscal.On the occasion, the DC stressed the concerned HoDs of line departments to adhere to the 30 percent quota of works—which need to be allotted to Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Engineers as per guidelines. He asked concerned departments to furnish a complete report regarding new construction works which have been kept aside for Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Engineers.
