Governor asks to speed up Smart City projects of Shimla town

Ajit Bhardwaj, Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhavan today and informed him about Smart City Projects and other activities related to the Corporation.He informed that construction of Tutikandi ropeway would be started immediately after receiving NoC from the Airport Authority of India and Central Public Works Department. This ropeway would connect Tutikandi to Jakhu and the pressure of vehicles in the city will also be reduced, he added. He said that 11 e-toilets have been constructed in the city by the Corporation and 20 others were proposed. He said that the road at Dhali, Boileauganj and Chhota Shimla would be widened and under the Smart City project, about 28 projects were being executed at a cost of Rs 500 crore in the first phase.The Governor said that parking lots, e-toilet and parks etc. should be developed in Shimla town for the convenience of tourists. He also emphasized widening of link routes under Smart City. He said that the work on Tutikandi ropeway should be expedited so that it could be completed within the stipulated time period.On this occasion, officials of Jakhu ropeway management were also present. They apprised him about various problems related to their project to the Governor.
