DDC Rajouri reviews progress of projects under PWD, PMGSY

District Development Commissioner Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting of officers of PWD and PMGSY to review the physical and financial progress of projects approved under the languishing and other schemes in the district.The meeting was attended by Executive Engineer PWD Rajouri Mohd Zubair, Executive Engineer PWD Nowshera division, Pervaiz Ahmed, Executive Engineer JKPCC, Executive Engineer REW besides all the Assistant Executive Engineer and Junior Engineers of the departments.Executive Engineer PWD informed the chair that in division Rajouri 73 projects have been approved under languishing scheme at sanctioned cost of Rs 19109.46 lakh. The approved projects included 10 bridges, 55 Roads, 06 school buildings, one PWD building and one youth services and sports building. Regarding PWD Nowshera division, the Executive Engineer informed that 36 projects have been approved which includes 08 bridges, 24 roads and 04 school buildings of the education department.It was also informed that the work on the Administrative and Academic Block is in progress and will be completed by June 2020, while the work on Hostel and Residence for students/faculty will be completed by December 2020.

It was also informed that out of 109 languishing projects 12 stands completed which included 03 bridges, 07 roads and 02 school buildings.Regarding completion of road projects being executed by the PWD, the DDC directed the engineers to complete the majority of roads by April 2020. He also directed them to resolve the issues which are hampering the pace of work. DDC also directed the Engineers to maintain the quality of roads for longer durability.While reviewing the PMGSY sector, the concerned officer informed that there are 310 ongoing schemes which included 120 in Budhal Division and 190 in Rajouri Division. The officer further informed that 187 schemes out of 310 stands completed while the work on 123 is in progress. Regarding status of road connectivity, it was informed that 517 km of road have been blacktopped, 278 km has been metalled, 281.43 km has been shingled and 767.55 km has been made fair weather in the district.DDC urged upon the officers to work with dedication and added zeal and directed them to adhere to the set deadlines. He asked the officers to maintain the quality while executing the work and establish a close liaison with the local population so that the progress and quality of the work can be monitored by the public for whom these developmental activities are carried out.
