"The Punjab Government is fully committed to the all round welfare of the construction workers and is taking every measure to raise their standard of living." These views were expressed here today by the Labour Minister, Punjab, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu during a camp organized by The Punjab Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board here at the under construction Amity University campus in Sector-82 A.The minister further said that 75 workers working at the site have been registered with the board while the registration process with regard to the rest is also in fast track mode. The registration certificates to those registered were also distributed by the minister.The minister also apprised the workers regarding the various welfare schemes, totalling 16 in number, being run by the board to ensure their well being. He also assured the workers that their safety at the working sites would be ensured besides exhorting them also to follow the safety norms and use the equipment provided by the construction companies.Among others present on the occasion included the Principal Secretary, Labour Department, Punjab, Mr. Vijay Kumar Janjua, Labour Commissioner, Punjab and Secretary of the Board Mr. Praveen Thind, Assistant Labour Commissioner Mohali Mr. Jatinder Pal Singh and Labour Enforcement Officer, Mohali Mr. Chanchaldeep Singh.
