The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma and , Chairman of the Punjab Water Resources Management and Development Corporation Jagbir Singh Brar today called upon the farmers to ensure judicious use of ground water to save it for the coming generations.Addressing the gathering during Kisan Mela organised at the Krishi Vikas Kendra here today, the Deputy Commissioner and PWRMDC Chairman said that it was our moral duty to come forward to save water. They said that it was the need of hour to ensure that precious natural resources could be preserved for our coming generations.They told that saving water was a national cause and all of us should join hands for preserving this natural resource.   They said that all of us were duty-bound to take immediate action for saving the water by following the experts' advices. They told that the time has come that all of us should not take water for granted else we would face acute shortage of drinking water and the life of all of us would be in shambles.They also asked the farmers to not to indulge in the practice of burning wheat straw which  cause irreparable damage to the environment.

They said that the farmers must follow the advices of the experts in the agriculture for increasing their income. They said that the state government was already giving huge subsidies to the farmers to purchase ultra modern machinery for in situ management of the paddy straw.Lauding the efforts of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Agriculture department for holding such melas, the they said that such melas were very helpful for further sharpening the expertise of farmers. They said that besides apprising farmers about the use of end technology in agriculture such melas were also helpful in giving vital guidance to farmers regarding crop management and soil health. Mr Sharma urged the farmers to derive maximum mileage from such camps .On the occasion eminent Assistant Director Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dr Kuldeep Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Naazar Singh, Agriculture Officer Dr Naresh Gulati, SDO Soil Conservation Mr Lupinder Kumarand others were also present.
