District Development Commissioner, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza today convened a meeting with the chairpersons of Block Development Councils of the district to discuss various developmental issues with them.The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer Nazir Ahmad, District Information Officer Janageer Akhoon and BDOs of several blocks.On the occasion, DDC Bandipora stressed on the BDC chairpersons to sensitize the people regarding sanitation and Solid/Liquid Waste Management. He asked them to act as eyes and ears of the government by keeping vigil of the works taking place in their respecitive areas to ensure the quality of work.He also asked them to hold regular meetings with line department officers on regular intervals in their respective blocks and urged them to act as a bridge between Panchayat and the government. He also sensitized the chairpersons about different initiatives of government and rural development centrally sponsored schemes.During the meeting Chairpersons raised several issues concerning their respective areas including water, electricity, road connectivity, up-gradation of roads etc. The DDC directed the concerned officers to maintain close liaison and coordination with Chairpersons and take the development of the district to new heights.
