Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign (SLAC) 2020 was launched across Kashmir Division today.Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary launched the campaign at the district level whereas other senior officers of the district administration launched it at block and zonal levels across the district.

IN BANDIPORA

District administration Bandipora and Department of Health Services launched the campaign at Mini-Secretariat, Bandipora.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir said that the government is determined to eradicate leprosy and overcome stigma related to it.He said the aim of the program was to create awareness among people about leprosy and its prevention.During the program pledge was taken to fight the disease.Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr Tajamul Hussain, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Parveiza Kounser, BMO Bandipora, Dr Ishfaq and Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmad Mir  was also present on the occasion.

IN KULGAM

The day was observed by organizing an awreness camp by Directorate of Health Services Kashmir in collaboration with District Leprosy Society Kulgam.Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat inaugurated Sparsh Anti Leprosy Awareness campaign.The campaign which commenced today will culminate on 13 February.A pledge ceremony was also held and First aid kits and other items were distributed.Present on the occasion were ADDC, ADC, JD Planning, CMO, Dy-SP and other officers.

IN SHOPIAN

Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin, who is also the chairman of District Leprosy Coordination Committee Shopian, launched anti leprosy awareness campaign at mini secretariat, Arhama Shopian.ADC ,ACR, CMO, District immunization Officer, Block Medical Officers, and other concerned were present on the occasion.

IN PULWAMA

Department of Health in collaboration with District Sparsh Leprosy Society organized anti leprosy awareness program to observe Anti Leprosy day here at DC office Complex PulwamaBesides the Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer the program was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Altaf Ahmad Khan, ADC Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina , CMO Pulwama , Dr Hasina Mir and other Concerned.Speaking on the occasion, the DC asked the health officials  to  carry out survey to detect hidden cases of Leprosy in the district so that preventive and rehabilitation measures are taken at an earliest.Later, a pledge was administered to participants not to discriminate with leprosy affected persons.
