"The Punjab Government is fully committed to ensure that the benefits of the development centric initiatives reaches all the sections of the society without any hassles." These views were expressed here today by the Health and Family Welfare, Labour Minister, Punjab, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on the occasion of distributing grants for the development purposes to 7 villages of the District. The minister said that Chilla, Barri, Motte Majra, Dairi, Gige Majra, Dhelpur and Gudana have been provided with the financial grants worth more than Rs. 50 lakhs for various purposes such as construction of streets and drains, Dharamshala at Gige Majra, Boundary wall of community center at Dhelpur and construction of street Noor Mohammed's house to Dhelpur-Gudana road. He also added that there would be no shortage of grants for the villages as the development of rural sector is a priority with the government.Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu also made it clear that no financial bunglings would be tolerated in the matter of grants and strict action would be taken against wrongdoers. He also distributed 70 Blue Cards (Ration Cards) to the village Gram Panchayat of Dairi. The minister also divulged that a separate meeting would be convened later to address the issues being faced by the people of village chilla.Making more development oriented announcements, Mr. Sidhu said that the work pertaining to the 18 ft. stretch of road connecting Dairi and Middhemajra villages and the road connecting Saneta and Gudana Manakpur, would be commenced soon.
It is worth mentioning that in the Mohali constituency, around 22000-25000 Ration Cards have been generated and the number of Health Cards generated is 106473 out of which 5812 people have availed treatment facilities amounting to Rs. 7,50,00000. In terms of the Labour Scheme, Rs. 1,08,00000 have been credited into the accounts of around 750 beneficiaries. A total of Rs. 80 lakh have been spent on other welfare centric initiatives such as Scholarship for children of labourers and Shagan scheme for girls. All these activities have been undertaken by the Lok Bhalai Kendar which has been made functional owing to the efforts of Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu.
