Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza today reviewed the measures to tackle Coronavirus in the district.The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tajamul Hussain, DFO Bandipora Shabir Ahmad, District Panchayat Officer, Nazir Ahmad Sofi, District Animal Husbandry Officer, Altaf Ahmad Kangoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mir Murtaza and other senior officials of the district.Meeting was informed that adequate measures have been put in place in the district to identify patients with symptoms of the disease. It was given out that surveillance has been enhanced and isolated wards have been earmarked started at healthcare institutions while special teams of doctors and paramedics have been constituted who are being trained to deal with any such cases.Emphasizing on the need for adopting preventive measures, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned to generate mass awareness about the preventive measures of epidemic through mass media including hoardings at prominent places in the district. He said that awareness regarding personal hygiene, screening and detection of cases at community level will be started through ASHA workers.Officers informed that adequate personal protection equipment including N-95 masks and other logistical have been stocked in the district while buffer stock is also being maintained.Experts on the occasion stressed on taking preventive measures including covering nose and mouth with a tissue while coughing or sneezing and washing hands with soap and water especially after coughing.The newly identified Coronavirus called 2019-nCoV has spreading in China, and is now reaching several other countries.It was given out that the Coronavirus is an Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) and Influenza like illness caused by a new type of virus.
