Bandaru Dattatreya urges farmers to adopt mushroom farming at an extensive level

Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that by adopting mushroom farming at an extensive level, farmers can improve their income. Governor said this while addressing the scientists of Directorate of Mushroom Research at Chambaghat in district Solan, today.Governor said that Himachal Pradesh has favourable environment for production of mushroom and farmers of the state should adopt it on a large scale. He appreciated that despite of being a small state Himachal Pradesh has 5th place in the country in mushroom cultivation. He directed the scientists of Directorate of Mushroom Research to spread awareness of new variety of mushroom and its production, so that farmers could benefit from it. Bandaru Dattatraya said that in order to double the income of farmers by 2020, it was important that scientists disseminate the information of new research and techniques to the farmers.  He said that mushroom is a low cost and high profit crop which would be beneficial in agricultural products and natural farming. 

He said that mushroom is also known for its medicinal properties and farmers should be encouraged to produce medicinal varieties of mushrooms.On this occasion, Governor also received information about natural farming in Solan district. He also took keen interest in getting practical information in various laboratories of Directorate.He also planted the sapling of Camilia in Directorate's premises.On this occasion, Director of Mushroom Research Centre V.P. Sharma detailed the Governor about process of Mushroom production and other activities of Directorate through presentation.Later, Governor also visited Dhyanyog Ashram situated at Katni near Subathu, Solan. During his visit he learnt about medicinal products and Dhyanyog and also inspected Gau Sadan. Founder of Ashram Brahmmurti Yogtirth welcomed him and detailed him about the activities of Ashram.Deputy Commissioner Solan K.C. Chaman, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Scientists of Directorate of Mushroom Research Centre and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
