10th National Voters Day celebrated across Kashmir Division

While highlighting the significance of National Voters Day, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today said that voter can change destiny of a nation.The Div   Com said this during a function held here today in connection with the 10th National Voters Day and while administering pledge to new voters, at Government College for  Women,  M.A. Road.The Pledge reads “We, the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the  dignity of free,  fair and peaceful elections and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or  any  inducement.”Speaking on the occasion, the Div Com said the greater electoral participation helps in making good policies which in turn make the roots of democracy  stronger.The National Voters’ Day is celebrated all over the country on January 25 every year since 2011 to mark the Foundation day of Election Commission of India, which was   established on 25th January 1950.“Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy” is the theme for this year’s National Voters’ Day.Div Com urged concerned officers to work on   mission mode so that maximum people can participate in democratic process.Deputy Commissioner Srinagar who is also District Election Officer Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary also   appreciated electoral team and urged them to ensure that they reach to the last voter so that maximum voter participation is ensured.Later, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir also   distributed Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) among newly enrolled voters. He also felicitated best EROs, AEROs and BLOs for their work.Joint Commissioner SMC, Nodal   Officer SVEEP, Principal Women College, all Election Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Election Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), new voters, and   other concerned officials were present on the occasion.

IN KULGAM, National Voters Day was celebrated across the district. Functions were held at various places including schools, colleges, courts, block offices and other government   institutions, while the main function was held at Mini-secretariat Kulgam were District Election Officer, showkatAijazBhat, was chief guest.The function was attended by Dy-  DEO,ERO’s, Tehsildar and Niab Tehsildar Election, Kulgam, NodelOfficer, SVEEP, District Officers, BDC’s, Sarpanch’s, Panch’s, BLO’s and a large number of newly registered   voters.On the occasion, Voter cards were distributed among new voters and pledge administered.A grand function was also held at District Court complex kulgam and Qazigund   which was organized by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA),Kulgam under the chairmanship of Secretary DLSA,MudasarFarooq and Munsif,Riyaz Ahmad Chowdhry.

IN GANDERBAL, National Voters day was organized by District Administration,Ganderbal at Mini Secretariat in which District Election Officer Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan (DDC)   participated as chief guest.A function was attended by ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Deputy District Election Officer, Ganderbal, District Panchayat Officer, Assistant   Election Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), other concerned officials besides students from various institutions.Later, Voter cards were distributed among   new voters and pledge administered.

IN KUPWARA, a function was organized in Town Hall Kupwarain which Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone  participated as the chief guest and   Deputy District Election Officer AbHameedZargar as guest of honor.Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Bhat; TehsildarKupwara, field functionaries of   different departments associated with election besides concerned BLOs and newly registered voters were present on the occasion.ADC Kupwara administered pledge and   distributed voter cards among new voters.A similar function was held at conference hall Handwara, in which Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara was chief guest.

IN SHOPIAN, a function was organized to celeberate the day in which Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin who is also District Election Officer was the   chief guest.The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Education Officer, (Nodal Officer (SVEEP)) and BLOS, students and other concerned were present on the   occasion.Election Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) was distributed among newly registered voters and pledge was administered.

IN BARAMULLA, a function was organized at Dak Bungalow with District Election Officer Baramulla,Dr GN Itoo as the chief guest.Among others, Assistant Commissioner Revenue   ,Dy District Election Officer, Chief Education Officer,District InformaticOfficer,Deputy Chief Education Officer,BLOs and other concerned were present o the occasion.Later, Voter   cards were distributed among new voters and pledge administered.

IN BUDGAM, Day was celebrated at Sheikh-Ul-Alam Hall, Budgam.The function was chaired by the District Election Officer,Budgam, TariqHussainGanai.On the occasion Voter   cards were distributed among new voters and pledge was administered.CMO Budgam and others concerned officers were present on the occasion.

IN BANDIPORA, various programs were organized across the district to educate new voters regarding the importance of exercising their franchise.The main function was held at   Mini-Secretariat to celebrate the National Voters Day. Deputy Commissioner Bandipora,Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza attended the function as chief guest while Additional Deputy   Commissioner,Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Medical Officer DrTajamul, Chief Education Officer JavidIqbal, Nodal Officer SVEEP Rafiq Ahmad Parray were present on the occasion.On   the Occasion, District Development Commissioner administered the Voter’s Pledge and distributed voter cards among new voters.Similar functions were held at Tehsil   headquarters of the district.

IN ANANTNAG, a function was organized in Dak Bungalow Khannabalin which ADC Anantnag, Mr. Gh. Hassan Sheikh was the chief guest.The function was organised by Nodal   Officer NVD in collaboration with District Election Office Anantnag.On the occasion, participants took pledge and voter cards were distributed among newly enrolled voters.

IN PULWAMA,a function was organized at DC office complex Pulwamato observe the day in which District Election Officer DrRaghav Langer was the chief guest.Similar functions   were organized at Govt Women’s Degree College and Govt Boys Degree College Pulwama where Deputy Commissioner participated as chief guest.He administered pledge to   participants and distributed Election Cards among newly registered voters.ADC Shabir Ahmad Raina,Assistant Commissioner Development,Principal Govt Women’s Degree   College and other concerned were present on the occasion.A sizable number of students were present on the occasion.
