The Chairman of Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission Gejja Ram Valmiki on Friday said that the commission will ensure the upliftment of Safai Karamchari across the state and would ensure filling up of all vacant posts of Safai Karmchaaris in the state. Presiding over a meeting with the various Safai Karamcharis-Sewermen unions and SDM Nakodar Mr Amit Kumar Panchal, ASP Mrs Vatsala Gupta, DDLG Mrs Anupam Kaler, the Chairman Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki accompanied by member Mr Inderjeet Singh, Advisor Mr Rahul Adia, said that the sole aim of the commission is to ensure welfare of Safai Karamcharis, working in all civic bodies of the state government and would not allow any kind of exploitation of them.He said the commission has also already directed Civil Surgeons to ensure medical check-up of Safai Karmchaaris quarterly in the year. He also ordered the registration of FIR against a contractor for exploiting Safai Karmchaaris in civil hospital.He brainstormed on various issues related to the compensation for Safai Karamcharis/sewermen, vacant posts of Safai Karamcharis/sewermen in various civic bodies, delayed EPF, equal work-equal pay or wages as per DC rate and others so that the commission can redress the issues immediately.He said that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the well being of the Safai Sewaks in the state.Chairman Mr Gejja Ram Valmiki also asked Kartarpur Municipal Council to follow Nakodar pattern for recruiting the Safai Karmchaaris in the civic body. Prominent amongst present in the meeting included District Welfare Officer Mr Rajinder Singh, Deputy DEO Mr Anil Awasthi, Nakodar MC head Mr Aditya Bhatara and others were present.
