Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Horticulture Department.Joint Director Horticulture, Assistant Director Horticulture, Accounts officer, Executive Engineer Horticulture (P&M), Chief Horticulture officers and other concerned were present in the meeting.While reviewing the developmental projects, the director asked the officers to ensure completion of earmarked projects within stipulated time frame for the benefits of framers and growers. He directed the Chief Horticulture officers to speed up the developmental programmes in their respective areas so that targets are achieved well in time. The director said that there is tremendous potential in horticulture sector for employment generation and entrepreneurship ventures especially in post-harvest handling of fruit crop, which need to be tapped.He also revived high density plantation programme and asked the concerned to conduct awareness camps in their jurisdiction to generate awareness the benefits of high-density planation.the director directed the also instructed the officers to focus on public sector nurseries for growing quality plant material especially high-density plants as well as grafted plant material of walnut to meet the requirement of growers.
