FC health seeks rationalisation of medical staff in hospitals for effective patient-care

Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo today directed for rationalization of medical staff to ensure effective delivery of health care services in all Hospitals.He was chairing a meeting here at Civil Secretariat to review the performance of District Hospitals (DH) and Sub District Hospitals (SDH) of Jammu and Kashmir during the months of September, October and November 2019.The FC Health asked the Directors of Health Services, Jammu and Kashmir to start a rationalisation exercise for better utilization of services of medical officers, consultants and specialists.“Provision for best health care service at all health institutions is the priority of the government. Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents should also utilize all resources to put a cap on unnecessary referrals to the tertiary hospitals” the FC directed.

He asked the authorities to depute consultants and specialists in the peripheral institutions to avoid unnecessary burden on the tertiary care facilities.“Evaluation exercise will be conducted after every three months to assess the shortcomings and find the ways to improve the performance of the hospitals” he added.Meanwhile, Director, New Medical Colleges J&K, Yashpal Sharma gave a detailed presentation on the number of patients treated in the DHs and SDHs and the referrals made by them, besides the facilities being provided at the district level.The meeting was attended by Director Health Services, Jammu, Renu Khajuria; Director New Medical Colleges J&K, Yashpal Sharma; Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, Sunanda Raina; Joint Director (Planning) H&ME, Madan Lal; Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents from districts.The officials from Kashmir division attended the meeting through video conferencing.
