As part of the drive to create awareness among the people on the road safety, the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Dr Nayan Jassal today flagged a road safety awareness rally outside the district administrative complex on Wednesday.The two-wheeler rally, all women drivers crossed BMC Chowk and Guru Nanak Mission Chowk and ended at Nakodar Chowk.The pillion riders carried out road safety placards into their hands and sensitized the commuters about the traffic norms with a purpose to put a check on the road accidents. She exhorted upon the drivers to wear helmets and seat belts as a safety measure and follow traffic rules strictly.RTA secretary Dr Nayan Jassal expressed hope that the rally and the other events being organized as part of the Road Safety Week would help in making people more aware about the road safety and the vital roles they can play in preventing accidents. She said the road-safety week is an effort to educate people on being safe on roads and spread awareness on traffic norms.She also appealed the people to obey traffic rules, check signboards, speed limit, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and others.
