A top Hizbul Mujahideen commander was killed in a fierce encounter with the security forces at Gundana area of Doda in Jammu and Kashmir while as hunt for another militant was on in the forest range.According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an encounter broke out in Gundana forest area of Doda district after security agencies received a tip off about the presence of militants in the area. “As the suspected spot was zeroed in, the hiding militants fired indiscriminately triggering of an encounter,” a police official said.In the ensuing gunfight, a top commander of Hizb was killed. “He was identified as Haroon Wani,” the police official said. “Slain is A++ militant belonging to Gatth area of Doda. He was accompanied by one unknown militant from Kashmir. Search is on to track down the associate of Wani.” Police sources told KNO that large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter that include AK 47, three magazine, 73 rounds, one Chinest grenade and a radio set.
