Jammu Civil Society calls on Lt Governor, submits memorandum of demands

A delegation of Jammu Civil Society called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.The delegation led by its Chairman, Sh. Pradeep Gandotra comprising of its members- Vinod Sachdeva, Harinder Gupta, Subash Gupta, Bupesh Gupta, Prem Dewan, Pragya Gandotra, Jatinder Gupta and Anil Kapahi appreciated the decision of the Lt Governor for the abolition of Toll Post at Lakhanpur and submitted a memorandum of demands to the Lt Governor pertaining to various issues of public importance.The delegation raised several issues and demands concerning the welfare of various sections of the society in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir including development of new tourist destinations and new hill stations in Jammu province, promotion of quality education, creation of sports infrastructure, digitization of land records and introduction of e-stamp paper, development of modern housing colonies, reduction of registration charges of vehicles, improvement in ease of doing business and framing of user friendly and system driven policies for better work culture in J&K.

The delegation further apprised the Lt Governor about the issues like internet connectivity, reduction of power tariff for Hotel Industry , compensation to the affected industries in the shape of matching incentives, fiscal incentives for service and trade sectors in J&K, charging of Taxes and Cess on Petroleum at par with other Union Territories, policy for conversion of Industrial land into free hold rights and relaxation in the condition regarding local labour employment in cases where skilled labour is not available.The Lt Governor, while interacting with the members of the delegation, observed that the Government is making all out efforts to fulfill the developmental aspirations of the people of J&K. He assured the delegation that the most of the issues raised by them are already under active consideration of the Government as a robust Industrial and Investment policy is on the anvil which will take care of a multitude of issues being faced by the industry in particular and society in general. Reforms in the administrative machinery, development and optimal use of human and material resources, land use policy etc. are other areas where the present Government is laying emphasis on, he added.  He exhorted the members of the delegation to work towards the betterment of society and assist the Government in reaching out to the hitherto unattended areas and sections of the society.
