To understand and meet the major developmental requirements of Srinagar the government has asked all concerned departments of the district to identify deficits in development and prepare and submit detailed project reports about them.The concerned departments have been asked to consult the local people in identification of areas where developmental deficits and infrastructural gaps exist before preparing the project proposals.This was informed in a multi-department meeting convened here Sunday under the chairmanship of the District Development Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.The consultations with the local people will be held in the form of public meetings which will be held in various areas that have been identified based on parameters of population among other factors of significance.The DDC while speaking on the occasion said this is the first time an outreach of this level aimed at addressing and meeting major developmental deficits is being made in the district.He directed the concerned departments and urged the general public of the district to make full use of this unique chance and contribute in what can be major moment in achievement of development for the district.The meeting was informed that inter-sectoral teams will constitute public meetings in identified areas and understand developmental deficits from the perspective of the locals. The idea is that projects proposals which will be submitted to the government for meeting developmental needs of Srinagar are holistic in nature including all aspects therein.It was informed that representatives of concerned central government departments will also be part of the teams which will visit and hold public meetings in areas across Srinagar.The final detailed project reports prepared thereafter will be submitted to the Government of India for funding and immediate execution of works.Dr Shahid said identified areas where public meetings will be held include both urban and rural areas. He said several areas ranging from power to drinking water to drainage to roads face deficits in the district adding that ones surrounding these will also be projected as part of the final list of proposals which will be submitted to the GoI for funding.
