District Development commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan (Chairman District Environment Committee- DEC) today convened a meeting of DEC to discuss the action taken by different departments for implementation of District Environment Plan (DEP).The meeting was attended by the members of the committee including ADC Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACD Ganderbal, General Manager, DIC Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, DFO(T) Ganderbal, Executive officer- MC Ganderbal, DPO Ganderbal, District Geology & Mining Officer Ganderbal, District Officer Pollution Control board Ganderbal and other concerned.The meeting discussed action plan for the implementation of DEP in the district in detail.The action taken by different departments of district Ganderbal including Solid Waste management, Plastic Waste Management, Biomedical Waste Management, e-waste management, Domestic Sewage Management and industrial Waste Management were also reviewed.The DDC said that the environment action plan is aimed at improving parameters of environment in the district including solid waste management, bio medical waste management, construction and demolition waste, polluted river stretches, industrial pollution control, utilization of treated sewage, conservation of water bodies and e-waste management.Besides, prevention of illegal sand mining, curbing use of plastic& polythene, community participation and generating mass awareness, strengthening Green Clubs, ensuring soil and moisture conservation, water conservation and curbing air and water pollution.
