Medical Education Minister Punjab OP Soni today asked the officers to percolate the benefits of pro-people schemes of the Punjab government led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, to benefit the people at the grass-root level.Chairing a meeting of the District Grievance Committee here at the District Administrative Complex today, the Minister, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal, said that the officers were duty-bound to implement the pro-people welfare schemes of the state government in the right earnest. He said that strenuous efforts need to be made to ensure that people were benefitted from the schemes and major fillip was given to the all-round development of the district. Mr. Soni said that the meeting would be held regularly in the first week of every month to effectively monitor government schemes.During the meeting, the Minister asked the Police department and Municipal Corporation to formulate joint strategy for streamlining movement of traffic in the city. Similarly, he asked the Public Works Department to expedite the work on construction of flyover at Adampur city to facilitate the people. Mr. Soni also asked the PWD to expedite the work on Lamma Pind to Jandusingha road and complete it by June 30. 

The Minister also directed the officers to speed up the work on under construction Railway Over Bridge at Shahkot adding that work on strengthening and widening of roads should also be expedited. 

He also asked the Health department and Municipal Corporation to explore the feasibility of operationalising the building of Community Health Centre at Khulra Kingra and widening of approach road to Centre. He also asked the PWD and Municipal Corporation to speed up the work of construction of Phillaur to Nakodar Road and Sai Mandir to Mithapur Chowk . Likewise, Mr. Soni also informed that the work on New Green Model Town Road would be started at a cost of RS 48.88 lakh. The Minister said that the agenda must be circulated to the members well in advance so that a healthy discussion must take on all the issues.  Likewise, he said that the presence of all the senior officers in the meeting must also be ensured. Mr. Soni also asked the members to give their written complaints well before the meeting so that it could be redressed soon.Patting the district administration led by Deputy Commissioner, the Minister said that the administration was paying due heed towards the welfare of people and development of the district. He said that exemplary work was being carried out by the administration for this purpose. Mr. Soni expressed hope that this endeavor would be carried forward in the coming years also.MLAs Mr Rajinder Beri and Mr Hardev Singh Laddi, Mayor Jalandhar Mr Jagdish Raj Raja, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr Diperva Lakra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gagnesh Kumar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Rahul Sindhu, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma, Dr. Jai Inder Singh and Mr. Vineet Kumar, Secretary RTA Dr. Nayan Jassal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinder Chawla, Deputy Director Sainik Welfare Major (Retd.) Yashpal, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Shayari Malhotra and others were also present in the meeting.
