The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday inaugurated the KG wing in A.N. Gurjral Senior Secondary School, Nakodar road.Mr Sharma accompanied by trust member Mrs Gurjot Kaur Hamdard, Mrs Seema Chopra, Mrs Neena Sondhi and CEO Mrs Navita Joshi dedicated the wing to the kids mostly from the weaker sections of the society.The school is run by Pushpa Gujral Nari Niketan Trust.The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of trust and called that it is serving the mankind with missionary zeal by running the Nari Niketan, a care institute for the destitute women and abandoned children, a dispensary, promoting vocational training and self-empowerment among women, Childline helpline (1098), an initiative for children in distress, in coordination with Ministry of Women and Child Development and arranging marriages of the inmates.He said that the A.N. Gurjral Senior Secondary School is already providing quality education to the children and its students have proved their mettle in district and state events.Mr Sharma also visited the trust and Childline helpline (1098) in the building.Before inaugurating the KG Wing, he also paid tribute to the founders of Nari Niketan Late Sh Avtar Narain Gujral and Late Smt Pushpa Gujral.The Deputy Commissioner also planted a sapling in the school.On the occasion, School Principal Mrs Anupama Bawa and staff members were also present.
