In a bid to streamline vehicular movement in Shopian town, District Development Commissioner Shopian Chaudhry Mohammad Yaseen today convened a meeting to discuss various measures being taken in this regard.Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dy. Suprendent of Police, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chairman Municipal Committee Shopian, President Traders Union, Shopian, besides the representatives of Sumo stands of the district were present in the meeting.District Development Commissioner directed the Assistant Regional Transport Officer and traffic police not to remain vigilant so that people of the district can get rid of frequent traffic jams.He directed ARTO for taking necessary steps to curb incidence of menace of wrong parking and take stringent action against the erring drivers.He directed the police authorities to deploy adequate number of police men at all the busy-routes and junctions of the town, besides the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee were directed to take action against the shopkeepers and vendors—who are found encroaching footpaths.The Transport Authorities were asked not to allow heavy vehicular traffic in the town from 9 AM to 5 PM.
