Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today inaugurates Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) week at a function organized by the district administration at Health and Wellness Centre Sheeri.During BBBP week, several programmes are being organised across the district during with special focus on generating awareness regarding various laws meant for the welfare of girl child.On the occasion, speakers highlighted the importance of educating a girl child and securing her future.Deputy Commissioner, in his speech said that various initiatives have been taken by the district administration for educating and empowering girl child.Special Gram Sabha are being organised in every Panchayat Halqa on January 4, 2020. He asked stakeholders including BDC chairperson, PRI representatives, civil society and community members, religious heads to play active role in educating the society regarding the importance of women empowerment.CMO, CEO, DPO, ICDS Officers, Aasha and Anganwadi workers, PRI representatives among others were present on the occasion.
