Ghumar, Chapeli and other folk dances were the main attractions of Folk & Tribal Dance proformed by as many as 18 teams from various University of North India on the fourth day of ongoing YUVFORIA-2019, 35th North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival is being held in Guru Nanak Dev University. Similarly the competitions in Group Song (Indian), Light Vocal (Indian), Western (Instrument) Solo, Quiz Preliminary, Quiz Final, Installation, Mehndi, Poster Making were organized as part of Youth Fest. A large number of students enjoyed music and dance of north India organized in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University.Today, a dance from Utrakhand, Chapeli was main attaraction among students. This dance is form of Uttarakhand (Kumaun region) performed on chapel songs sung with high speed or in a haste style.These songs and dance are performed at wedding, fairs and other festive occasions. The primacy of live and erotic themes is seen in chapel songs and dance. This dance is combination of chapeli and mirasi chapel dance from describing the beauty of a girl name 'tilga'. Similarly, the performance of bhangra enthralled the audience and they started following the beat of dholl alongwith student performers. Another dances includes ghumar from Rajasthan was eqally colourfull and informative of Rajasthani rich culture.In the completion of Installation, theme was dedicated to 550th Avtar Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji. In this completion, student-artists gathered waste material to reproduce art work. This follows competitions of Light Vocal (Indian), Western (Instrument) Solo, Quiz Preliminary, Quiz Final, Installation, Mehndi, Poster Making were held.Tomorrow, prize distribution function will be organized in the dasmesh auditorium of the University at 10.00 am. Education Minister of Punjab, S. Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa will be the chief guest and gave away trophies to the winners. Before this, inauguration of Green Houses at Botanical Garden and Inauguration of Solar System Near Bhai Gurdas Library will be performed by S. Bajwa.
