Rural Police Arrest Five Drug Peddlers

Seize 1.5 Kg Heroin And 4.550 Kg Opium In Separate Incidents

Tightening the noose further around the drug peddlers, the rural police have arrested five accused persons and seized 1.5kg heroin and 4.550 kg opium from separate locations on Friday.The accused have been identified as Gaurav Chauhan of Babu Labh Singh Nagar, Sanjay Chaudhary of Transport Nagar, Babloo Kumar of Budpur in Merrut, Hardeep Singh of Section-7, Bihali in Chattisgarh and Surjit Singh of Lakhan Ke Padde in Kapurthala.Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal said that acting on a tip-off, the police party of CIA staff laid a trap in Kahlwan and stopped a biker for checking who later identified as Gaurav Chauhan. He said that on being frisked, the cops seized 1.5kg heroin, two mobiles and one dongle from his possession. SSP said it has also been found that Gaurav along with accomplice Sanjeev Kumar of Gagret involved in smuggling narcotics drugs. He further said that Pushpinder of Gulmarg Colony and Gurjant Singh of Hawelian PS Sarai Amanat Khan in Tarn Taran who are in jail, also in-touch with them. He said that a case under section 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered against Gaurav in Kartarpur police station. 

In another case, SSP told the head of Shankar Police Post ASI Paramjeet Singh was conducting the patrolling near Babe Da Dhaba in Dhaliwal village and received a tip-off that Sanjay and Babloo were travelling in Brezza Car (UP15-CW-4425) and carrying opium in heavy quantity. He said that during checking, the cops stopped the Brezza car on suspicion and recovered 1.500 kg opium from the gearbox of car and arrested both of them. A case under section 18 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them in Nakodar Sadar Police stationSimilarly, Mr Mahal told that Sub-inspector Ajit Singh along with police party patrolling near Bhogpur-Moga village road and apprehended two persons when they tried to flee away after spotting the cops in railway crossing. Later, both revealed their identities as Hardeep Singh and Surjit Singh and on frisking, the cops recovered 2.650 kg opium from Hardeep’s kit bag and  400 gm from opium from Surjit. A case under section 18 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them in Bhogpur Police station. He said that further investigations into the cases were going on and action will be taken accordingly.
