The first meeting of newly elected members of Zila Parishad was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Yadwinder Singh Jandiali at the meeting hall of Zila Parishad office, here today. This meeting was also attended by Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh, former minister Malkit Singh Dakha, MLAs Amrik Singh Dhillon, Gurkirat Singh Kotli and Lakhbir Singh Lakha, Zila Parishad secretary Charanjot Singh Walia, Satwinder Kaur Bitti, Harkaran Singh Vaid, Major Singh Bhaini, Kaamil Boparai, besides several others.

During the meeting, it was decided that a roadmap would be prepared to increase the income of Zila Parishad and also to carry out overall development of villages. While addressing the meeting, Chairman Yadwinder Singh Jandiali said that MGNREGA was started to uplift the standard of people of people living in rural areas during the tenure of former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He directed the officials that all ongoing works under MGNREGA should not be stopped at any cost and should be completed on priority basis.He informed that to avail full benefit of MGNREGA, the Zila Parishad house has already formed a committee comprising Zila Parishad secretary, MGNREGA coordinator and one member to prepare a formal report on any roadblocks in this regard. So that these issues can be taken up with the state as well as the union government. He also directed the officials to ensure that the benefits of all welfare schemes should be provided to the residents. He assured the members that he would sit in office for three days a week.It was also decided in the meeting that a report regarding the current status of all properties owned by Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis should be put up in the next meeting so that ways to increase income can be discussed. The in principle approval for budget of Zila Parishad for the year 2019-20 was also granted. Besides, several works such as repair of zila parishad office, giving multi story parking on rent, upgradation of parking in Clock Tower chowk under Ludhiana Smart City project etc were also cleared.
