Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today said that the Punjab government is committed for the welfare of scheduled castes and that is why, the state government has issued funds amounting to Rs 65 lakh for the completion of under construction Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bhawan-cum-Community Training & Research Centre, coming up near Jalandhar Byepass, here. He said that this project would be completed soon.For the completion of the second phase of this project, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu handed over a cheque of Rs 65 lakh to the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana officials.While providing information, Mr Ashu informed that keeping in mind and respecting the sentiments of people from scheduled castes, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had announced a grant of Rs 6 crore for the timely completion of this project.
He informed that development works amounting to around Rs 2 crore have already been completed, whereas another Rs 98 lakh have already been spent in the second phase, out of which cheque of Rs 65 lakh was handed over to the Municipal Corporation by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust.Mr Ashu said that the Punjab government is carrying out overall development of the state in a systematic and planned manner, besides several projects while keeping in mind the sentiments of all sections of society have also been started. He assured that preference is being given for the construction of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bhawan-cum-Community Training & Research Centre.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Ludhiana Improvement Trust Chairman Mr Raman Balasubramaniam, District Congress Committee (Rural) President Mr Karanjit Singh “Soni” Galib, Senior Congress leader Mr Rajiv Raja, Councillor Mr Hans Raj, Mr Ramandeep Lali, Mr Naresh Dhigan, besides several others.
