Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today chaired a high level meeting of senior officers of Transport Department and traffic authorities to review the working of Road Safety wing of the department.Threadbare discussions were held on implementation of road safety measures and latest road safety technologies on highways and roads of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir with the aim of reducing road accidents.SSP, Jammu, Mohan Lal Kaith; SSP, Traffic Jammu City, Joginder Singh; Additional Secretary, RSL, Ramesh K Bhat; Special Secretary, Rahul Sharma, SE, Tech, Ravi Raina; ARTOs from Jammu Division besides RT, ETI, ENVIRONTECH Private Limited, Banav Rawal and Chirag Meghani were present in the meeting.ARTOs and Traffic authorities from Kashmir Division also highlighted the issues regarding implementation of road safety measures in Kashmir region through video conferencing. They briefed the Principal Secretary about the steps being taken up for proper implementation of safety measures by the authorities.Dr. Samoon asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to provide awareness and training to the drivers of commercial vehicles and students to curb the menace of rash driving. Principal Secretary asked the concerned authorities to follow up the guidelines regarding traffic rules and sought suggestions about effective implementation of road safety measures to help and save the precious lives.
