Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX)-2019 will not only strengthen the industrial ties among nations but will also improve the graph of Amritsar in the field of Industry & Commerce, this was stated by Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Shivdular Singh Dhillon while addressing a Press Conference on the eve of 14th edition of PITEX being organised here by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).The expo will be hosted by Punjab Govt. He said that during the last 13 years, PITEX has built its unique image not only in Punjab but also abroad. People eagerly await for this event. Appealing the general public to visit the event, the Deputy Commissioner said that this is proud moment for Amritsarians that an international expo like PITEX is being organised in the City.Addressing the Press Conference, R S Sachdeva, Mentor, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI said that PITEX will be inaugurated on December 12, by  Shri Sunder Sham Arora, Industries and Commerce Minister Punjab. Apart from leading corporates, PITEX will see participation from PSIEC, GMADA, Punjab Agro Industry Corporation, PEDA,  Milkfed, Markfed, amongst others. A number of Central Government Departments like Ministry of MSME, NABARD, Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Ministry of Ayush,  National Small Industry Corporation (NSIC), National Egg Corporation, National Jute Board, National Coir Board are also participating in PITEX-2019.In his address, Karan Gilhotra, Chairman, Punjab State Chapter, PHDCCI  said that there will be a Session on tourism on the topic ‘Tourism : Fuelling Growth and Goodwill’ which will be attended by tour, travel and hospitality industry in order to boom the tourism industry in the region. 

The Chief Guest for the Event will be Shri Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Hon'ble Minister, Sports and Youth Affairs,   NRI Affairs, Govt. of Punjab will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.He further said that besides encouraging industrial sector, CSR activities will also be undertaken during PITEX. In this regard, a Walkathon  themed to walk for Healthy Bones and Joints will be held at 8:00 am on 14th December. PHDCCI will conduct a visit of girl students from Mission Deep Educational Trust - an Amritsar based NGO engaged in providing education & other facilities to underprivileged students.Speaking on the occasion, Jaideep Singh, Convenor, Amritsar, Punjab State Chapter of PHDCCI said that the expo is receiving very good response from exhibitors and all the stalls have been booked prior to start of the event. This time exhibitors from Afghanistan, Turkey, Thailand and Egypt are also participating in PITEX. Pakistani products will also be on display & sale during the event. Apart from these, states like Jharkahnd, J&K, M.P. and North Eastern States  are also participating in big way in the event.The Regional Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry,  Madhu Pillai informed that this time over  400 stalls have been established in an area spread over  of 20 thousand square meters. She said in 2005, when PITEX was started in Amritsar, approximate 100 industrialists participated and the event received merely 50 thousand visitors. Now with cooperation of the Punjab Govt., PITEX has grown many folds. There were around 3 lac visitors last year and this year number is expected to cross 3.5 lac. Jaideep Singh, Convener-Amritsar,  PHDCCI and other prominent industrialists were also present on the occasion.The valedictory session will be held on  December 15, 2019. Shri Som Parkash, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Govt of India will be the Chief Guest on the occasion. The Expo will conclude on 16th December.
